Arthur Richard Lynch, Jr., 64, of Dumont, passed away on September 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving a deep void in the lives of his family and the many friends who loved him.
Art was the beloved husband of Norah (née Murphy) and the devoted father of Patrick and Fionah. He also leaves behind his loving parents, Edith and Arthur Lynch, Sr.; his siblings, Betty, Debbie (Ed), Jennifer, and Joseph (Amy); his cherished in-laws Pat (Karolee), Anne, and Teresa; and an extensive circle of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters Patty and Cathy.
Art earned his nickname, “the Mayor,” honestly. He stayed connected to people from every chapter of his life and his inner circle never stopped growing. He is remembered for his remarkable gift of turning nearly everyone he met into a friend, and his unwavering ability to connect with others through a shared laugh.
A carpenter by trade, Artie was always there to get the job done – ready to lend his knowledge, his hands, and his time. His talents extended well beyond his work; Artie loved to garden, grill, and was happiest when good food brought the people he loved together. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and loved fishing, especially with his father in Pennsylvania’s Lackawaxen River.
Artie’s family and friends will be comforted by the memory of a life lived with love and laughter at its center – to have known Artie was to have had a friend, and those who knew him understood how fortunate they were to have him in their lives.
A celebration of Artie’s life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont. A Catholic Blessing will be offered at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Cremation will be private.
