Beginning with The Department of Veterans’ Affairs, who provide information on memorial benefits, health services, life insurance programs and more. The Social Security Administration allows survivors to report the death of a loved one. The site also provides information on potential benefits that can be claimed by the survivors. As well as The National Cemetery Administration (NCA) honors Veterans with a final resting place and lasting memorials that commemorate their service to our nation.

If your family member served in the armed forces, you have the option of providing them with a Military Honors Funeral, or MFH. The basic MFH will provide the family of the deceased veteran with a folded American flag and a playing of Taps, either by a live bugler or through a high-quality recording. This is the standard funeral service provided to deceased veterans across the country, and is performed by at least two members of the armed services – at least one of whom will be from the same branch as the deceased. We encourage friends of the family to visit our obituaries page to send condolences online. Funeral arrangements can be made via telephone and email to limit exposure. Cemeteries are also required to follow health code restrictions concerning attendance at interments and entombments.
