Kathleen Oates nee O’Reilly of Dumont, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 77.  Kathleen was born on June 19, 1948, in London, UK. Her family emigrated to Brisbane , Australia in 1949. In 1963 they emigrated to New York City, where she met her husband.  They married in 1971 and moved to Dumont in 1974, where they raised their family.  She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Patrick Oates, and her children, Patrick (Erin), Mary, (John) Christine (Mike) and Sean (Michelle) and her eight grandchildren: Owen, Claire, Connor, Shane, Jack, Katie, Ashlyn and Parker, as well as her sisters Maureen, Geraldine (Richard) and brothers Michael and Jimmy, and extended family in Australia, Ireland and America. She is predeceased by her parents John and Mary, natives of County Cavan, and her sister Peggy and brother Sonny.  The family welcomes flowers or a donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in Kathleen’s memory.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 4-8 PM, at Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont, NJ 07628.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 280 Washington Avenue, Dumont, NJ 07628.

Kathleen will be laid to rest at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.
