Demetrio E. Echon, 91, of Hackensack, NJ (formerly of Bergenfield, NJ) passed away on December 17, 2024.  Beloved husband of Natividad (née Manglicmot).  Devoted father of Jaime (Jerry Nida), Jeanet E. (Angelito) De La Cruz, Joseph (Lyza), Joey (Grace) and Julie Echon.  Cherished grandfather of 11 and 15 great-grandchildren.

Demetrio was born in the Philippines (Candelaria, Zambales) to Luciana (née Ecolango) and Maximo Echon. Youngest sibling of Hermana, Isidro, Roque, Alejandro and Timotia. A 1955 Alumni of St. Joseph School, Olongapo City, he was a Chief Steward in overseas companies (Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, France, Italy, Greece, Brazil, Egypt, India, Africa etc.) from 1965-1983. Fulfilled his American Dream to bring his family, migrated to the U.S.A. in 1990.

Visitation Friday, December 20, 2024, 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont.  Funeral Mass Saturday, December 21, 2024, 10:00 AM at St. John’s R.C. Church, 29 North Washington Avenue, Bergenfield.
