Obituary

Kathleen Howe Riley passed away peacefully on May 25 at 89 years old.

Kathleen, or Kay to most, was born on December 23, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. Kay was a working Mom, raising six children and working full time most of her adult life. She started working at Manufacturers Hanover Trust in Brooklyn at 17. She married Allen Riley in 1954 while he was in the Navy serving in Korea. In 1960, they moved to Dumont where they spent 42 years raising their family.

Kay worked for 25 years at County Trust Bank in Dumont which became First Union. She retired in 2002 and moved to Waretown, NJ where she spent a very happy 18 years. She most recently lived in Hillsdale, NJ.

While in Dumont, Kay was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church where she volunteered for several years in the daycare center. She was an active member of the Selzer School PTA for many years, volunteering several days a week at the school library from 1965 to 1975.

Kay had a great joie de vivre, she loved a party and was always the first and usually the last to dance. She had endless patience, especially with children. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.

She is predeceased by her husband Allen, and her three loving sisters, Estelle, June and Madeline.

Kay is survived by her six children and their spouses, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, her brother Hank, Sister-in-Law Sharon, Brother-in-Law Harold and many many loved nieces, nephews, and their children.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31st, 4-8 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont NJ 07628.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 1st, 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 430 Knickerbocker Rd, Tenafly, NJ 07670.
