William J. Treacy, 95, of Dumont, NJ entered into eternal rest on April 22, 2024. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Angela Treacy (2019). Survived by his devoted children; Liam Treacy, Gerri Treacy, Marie (John) Westermann, Caroline (Mike) Dugan. Also survived by his cherished grandchildren; J.J. (Julie),Courtney and Kelsey Westermann, Ryan and Kellie Dugan.
William was born in County Galway, Ireland to Julia (née Pender) and Martin Treacy. William married his sweetheart, Angela Treacy (née Keane), in Dublin on September 11, 1956, and emigrated to New York Cityin August 1958 where they built a home and raised four children together. They imparted their love for Irish culture to their children in the form of Irish music and Irish dancing. William played the tin whistle and took great pride in playing Irish music with his children and grandchildren. William was a Motorman with the New York City Transit Authority for many years. William was also a member of the Bergen Irish and a longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church.
Visitation Tuesday, April 23rd, 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, Dumont. Funeral Mass Wednesday, April 24th, 9:30 AM at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Dumont. William will be laid to rest with his wife, Angela, at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.
