Obituary

William F. Brady, Jr., 77, of Deerfield Beach, FL (formerly of Dumont, NJ), passed away peacefully on November 24, 2023.  Dear brother of Patricia (Vincent) Smith and the late Terry Brady.  Loving uncle of Vincent (Cara) Smith, Denise (David) Sprengel, Kevin Smith, Keith (Suzie) Smith, Terry and Scott Brady.  Also survived by his sister-in-law, Nancy Brady and many grand-nieces and nephews.

William was born in New York City to Henrietta (née Duffy) and William F. Brady, Sr.  He attended All Hallows Catholic High School in the Bronx, and was a proud graduate of Iona University, and spoke eight language.  William was a Sergeant with the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam.  He had a long career with Luftansa Airlines, where he was given the opportunity to travel the world, which he thoroughly enjoyed.  William loved riding the waves and the beaches of Florida. He was an avid reader and loved all his dogs. Uncle Brady as he was known to his friends, stood out in the crowd. His long blonde hair, electric smile, signature mustache and vast array of Hawaiian shirts made him a well know icon of So. Florida! Three things William held dearest to his heart, a cold beer with ice, the good ole USA and most of all the love of his family.

A celebration of William’s life will take place on Sunday, November 26th, 4:00-8:00 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont.  Funeral Mass Monday, November 27th, 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Dumont.  William will be laid to rest with his parents at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Tenafly.

As an expression of sympathy, please consider a donation in William’s memory to Vietnam Veterans of America, 8719 Colesville Road, Suite 100, Silver Spring, MD 20910; https://vva.org/
