Emil C. “Charlie” Harris, 84, of Dumont, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 6, 2023.  Beloved husband of 62 years to Mary Josephine “Jo” Harris.  Loving father of Joan (Michael) Haerstch, Billy (the late Michele) Harris, Mary (Robert) Sanders, Kathleen (Norman) Darmstatter, Bridget (Jeffrey) Chrzanowski.  Loving grandfather of Kelly, Brian, Erin, Maggie, Patrick, Bobby, Kristen, Jarrett, Nichole, Mackenzie, Connor, Amanda, Jennifer, Emily, and great-grandfather of Jack, Anastasia, Elias, Dylan, Sophia, Aurora. Predeceased by his grandson, Liam.

Charlie was born in New York City to Anna (née Lafty) and William Harris.  He was a member of the Police Reserves and the Knights of Columbus St. John’s Council #1345.  Charlies was employed as a printer with East River Savings Bank, New York City, for many years.  He enjoyed camping with family and friends, and was an avid Yankees and Giants fan.

A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 3:00-7:00 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue.  Funeral Mass Thursday, August 10, 2023, 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s R.C.
