Obituary

Kathryn Ann O’Connor, 81, of Dumont, NJ was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Sat. December 19, 2020.

Beloved Mother of Leslie Martin-Bazzini and her husband Paul; Patricia (Tricia) Martin, and her partner Phil Groot; Devoted Nana of Andrew, Daniel and Sarah Bazzini, Loving Sister of Charles and Judi O’Connor; and Caring Aunt of Alison, Ron, Alex and Kate Buchwald.

Kathryn, was originally from Fairview, NJ and lived in several NJ towns, eventually residing in Dumont.  She was a graduate of Cliffside Park H.S. and Englewood Hospital School of Nursing.

Prior to retiring in 2004, Kathryn worked as a Registered Nurse at Englewood Hospital for 30 years, where she served in various capacities, most notably the Operating Room and Clinic.   She had a love for people and compassionately cared for her patients with a true servant’s heart.

Kathryn (or Kitty/Katie/Kate as she was known to friends and family), was a Godly woman who always had a smile, hug or kind word at the ready for those she came in contact with. She was a member at Bethany Church in Washington Township, NJ where she was known for her grace and encouragement.   Throughout her retirement Kathryn enjoyed travelling to many interesting places both within the US and abroad; attending Thursday morning women’s Bible study; vacationing at the Jersey Shore, a place that held special memories for her; and most of all, spending lots of time with good friends and family and doting on her grandchildren.

Kathryn was a charitable woman, who supported numerous organizations.  She loved to laugh and her beautiful smile and sparkling blue eyes lit up any room she was in. Kathryn was truly a remarkable and resilient woman whose faith and strength sustained her through a difficult illness and who never lost her joy in the Lord or her gratitude.  She will be missed beyond words.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service on Sat, Jan 2, 2021 at Bethany Church, 605 Pascack Road, Washington Township, NJ at 12PM.  Masks are required/Social distancing will be practiced.
