Anita Louise Bakun (née Steyrer), 77, of Dumont, and previously of North Bergen
died peacefully on December 21, 2020. Devoted mother of Bruce Nordquist and Nicole Morales and her husband Rodrigo. Cherished grandmother of Madison, Lauren, Katelyn, and Kassandra. Also survived by her cousin, Dr. Charles Ulrich. Predeceased by her sister, Linda Ann Gilbert.
Anita was born to Louise (née Rankel) and Frank Steyrer in Union City. She was a secretary with Congregation Sons of Israel in Leonia for many years. When she retired, she cared for other families and their children as well as her own grandchildren. Anita was a proud grandmother. You often would see her at pick up and drop off at their school. Anita very much enjoyed the outdoors and on numerous occasions, would stroll thru Alison Park in Englewood. She loved taking the children there and showing them nature and the scenic look-out of NYC. It was a peaceful and pleasant place for her. Anita’s trademark were her blue and brown beautiful eyes. Her daughter and son will miss this so much.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 28th, 11 AM, St. Mary’s R.C. Church. Entombment will be at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Visiting will be Sunday, December 27th, 3-7 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont.
