Peter M. Salandra, 91, of Dumont (formerly of Jersey City) entered into eternal life on November 26, 2025. Beloved husband of 66 years to Rachael (née Melillo). Loving father of Anthony (Kim) Salandra, Bernadette (Steve) Doyle. Cherished grandfather of Matthew (Cindy) Doyle, Breana Salandra, Mark (Madison) Doyle, Alyssa and Madison Salandra, and great-grandfather of Liam Doyle. Peter was truly a family man and enjoyed nothing more than his family gathered together for a meal or celebration.
Peter was born in Jersey City to Anthony and Marie Salandra. He attended Lincoln High School and St. Peter’s College in Jersey City. He went on to earn his MBA at New York University. Peter was an Army veteran, and vice president of Audits & Surveys, a marketing research firm in New York City. He worked at Audits & Surveys, commuting from Dumont to New York City until he was 78 years old. Peter was an avid tennis and golf player. He played tennis weekly until he was 87 and continued to play golf occasionally until 89. Peter loved to watch sports. He could often be found watching some game or match on television. He never missed
watching Wimbledon and the US Tennis Open tournaments. He was a fan of the NY Giants, NY Knicks, NY Islanders, St. Louis Cardinals and UNC Basketball. In addition to being a devoted family man and an avid sportsman, Peter believed in service to others. He was a baseball coach for Dumont Minor League Baseball, a
volunteer at Eva’s Kitchen and a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart R.C. Church.
A celebration of Peter’s life will be held on Thursday, December 11th, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, December 12th, 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 102 Park Street, Haworth. Cremation is private.
