Obituary

Robert Astarita, 68, of Dumont, New Jersey passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 3rd.

Founder and CEO of Dapper Painting International, Robert (“Bobby”) was an unstoppable force with a paintbrush. The fine walls and exteriors of homes and businesses throughout the tri-state area (and beyond) will forever cement his legacy as a legendary craftsman.

The oldest of seven, Robert was a natural “big brother,” always looking out for his siblings. He was sharp as a tack and extremely witty, with an unmistakable laugh. He was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews, always remembering each of their birthdays and bringing lottery tickets for each of them to excitedly scratch off with pennies at holiday gatherings.

An alumni of Bergen Catholic H.S., talented football player and start athlete. A lifelong Yankees fan, an avid bike-rider and a lover of music, Robert found joy in the little things. He loved watching baseball games, riding his bike around town, and listening to the “good radio stations” playing the tunes he liked, from NRBQ to the Stones.

Robert is survived by his loving siblings: Anne Galante, Mary Mease, Tracy Smith, Patrick Astarita, Frank Astarita, Chris Astarita, and their spouses & families.

He is predeceased by his parents, Ann (née Carr) and Arthur Astarita, stepmother Leslie Astarita, and nephew Justin Mantz.

The family will hold a private memorial service but encourages those who wish to enjoy a scratch off lotto ticket in his honor.

A celebration of life will take place in September at Sacred Heart Church, Haworth, New Jersey.
