Old Tappan – Steven Petruzzelli, age 99, peacefully passed away at Care One at Valley in Westwood. Born in New York, New York to the late Dominick and Stella (Malfe) Petruzzelli, Steve was the owner and operator of Modern Carting Corp. in New York City before retiring in 1991. Steve was a proud World War II Navy Veteran and was an honored member of the Old Tappan Veterans Advisory Committee. In 2024, he was honored by his town as the oldest remaining World War II veteran living in his community. Steve was also very proud of his Italian heritage and was an active lifetime member and Past Governor of UNICO International. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brigitte; his sons, Dominick Petruzzelli and his wife Esther of Glendale, Arizona, Steven Petruzzelli and his wife Theresa of Crawford, Georgia, Richard Gaal of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Steven Gaal of New Canaan, Connecticut; his daughter, Rochelle Dykstra and her husband Roger of Hendersonville, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 4-7:30 p.m. at Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont.
