Charles W. Knotts, 92, of Dumont, NJ, passed away peacefully November 23, 2024. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Frances (née Traverso). Devoted father of Cheryl Knotts, Maria Schackner and her husband Bob. Cherished grandfather of Ryan and his wife Sarah, Sarah Flammia and her husband Domenic, and great-grandfather of Anna, Nora, Mason and Jackson. Dear brother of Doris Brubaker and Eugene Knotts.
Charles was born in Rosebud, PA to Anna (née Diehl) and George Knotts. He was a proud Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, and a Transportation Manager with Borden Chemical Company, Fair Lawn for many years. Charles was a longtime member of the Dumont and Fort Lee VFW and the Dumont Elks.
Charles, also known as Charlie, Chuck, Chuckles and Gramps, was an avid sports fan who loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Steelers. He was well-loved and those who grew to know him were proud to call him “friend.” If a man’s wealth were to be judged by those who loved and respected him, Chuck was the richest man in the world. Those who knew him were truly blessed and each person is better for having spent time in his company. All of us – family and friends – will forever carry Chuck with us in our hearts.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Dumont, on Saturday, January 18th, 11:00 AM. Arrangements: Frech-McKnight Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Chuck’s memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741; https://donate.cancer.org/
