May 26, 1949 – August 30, 2024
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you that our much-loved Roger passed away in Haworth, NJ, on August 30th, 2024, at the age of 75, after a long and courageous, ten-year battle with cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife, Kathy, just after celebrating their 31st wedding anniversary on August 28th. He also leaves behind other loving family members, including his sister Linda Moy (husband Jimmy); sister Nancy Visocki (fiancé Fred Eisenmann); niece Alyson Moy; cousins Barb, Kerry & Steven (wife Patrycja), Kim (husband Ken) Matus; Kathy’s family, Jim, Jeanne, Andy, Patti (husband Mike), Ben, Tara & Dania (husband John), as well as many other cousins, and an extensive number of friends.
He was predeceased by his loving parents Tom and Gloria Visocki, grandparents, cousin and best friend, Bobby Matus, as well as many aunts and uncles.
Roger lived most of his early years in Dumont, NJ, attending St. Mary’s Grammar School in Dumont, NJ, Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, NJ, and Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. He was always an outstanding student, even though he was not as good at following orders, as most of his family and friends will tell you! Most of his adult life was spent living in Haworth, NJ, with his devoted wife, Kathy. He briefly worked as a construction estimator for P. Germinario’s & Sons, but his love was always for cars and working on them, which led to him ultimately opening D&R Auto Repair in New Milford, N.J., remaining very successfully in business until his retirement in 2014. After retirement, up until recent times he never stopped going to his shop every day, continuing to work on cars and meeting there with his many friends.
His passions were motorcycles, cars, and car racing, entering many SCCA car races over the years, as both race car driver and pit crew member. Many good times and happy memories were created going to SCCA races with his wife, Kathy, his cousin Bobby Matus, Bobby’s wife Barb, and their children Steven and Kerry. Roger’s entire life was spent around cars and motorcycles, and he made many lifelong friends, especially Bobby Roem, Jr. and his son Bobby Roem III. He always enjoyed having a good time with friends!
Only time and tears will take away our grief but knowing that Roger is now at peace and his suffering and pain are over brings some comfort. Rest in peace and eternal happiness, Roger. You are forever in our hearts and will be deeply missed.
