Barbara Helen Silvia, 90 years old, passed away on July 20, 2024. Born in Bergenfield, the second daughter to Florence and William Wacker. She was raised in Dumont and had been a resident of Fort Lee for many years. After retiring from Equitable Life Assurance, she became a school crossing guard for over 20 years. She was a member of the Fort Lee Volunteer Ambulance Corps for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Tilden Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
Barbara is survived by her four sisters, Joan Davis, Doris (Neil) Ratner, Florence (Daniel) Fusco and Susan (Ralph) Prince; her nephews Herbert and Wade, and nieces Kathy, Judy, Linda, Dana, Nicole and the late Christine. Also many great nieces, especially Ava, and great nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visiting will be Thursday, July 25th from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, Dumont. Religious Service at the funeral home Friday, July 26th, 11 AM, with burial to follow at Woodside Cemetery, Dumont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to the Make-a-Wish Foundation or to your favorite charity.
