Peter J. DeRobertis, 76, of Dumont, NJ, passed away peacefully after a long illness on July 10, 2024. Beloved husband of Katherine (nee Klushin). Cherished father of Amy Stair and her husband Jonathan, Lauren Whitson and her husband Bradlee. Adored grandfather of Scarlett, Lee, Julian and Vincent.

Peter was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Pauline (nee Stallone) and John DeRobertis. Peter graduated from St. John’s University in Queens, NY, with a degree in Business Administration and a Commision as an officer in the United States Air Force.

After service in the United States and overseas, achieving the rank of Captain, Peter briefly worked in the private sector before starting with the United States Customs Service in 1974. Peter retired from the US Department of Homeland Security and Border Protection in 2006 after achieving the title of Assistant Area Director, Trade Operations, of the New York port area. He was honored as Man of the Year by the Columbia Association of U.S. Customs and Affiliated Federal Agencies in 1996. Above all, Peter was a devoted husband, father and grandfather

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 4 pm to 8pm at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont, NJ. Funeral mass will be Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 9:30 am, St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Dumont, NJ. Entombment St. John’s Cemetary, Queens, NY.
