Raymond V. Bergamaschi, 74, of Dumont, passed away January 19, 2024. Beloved husband of Kathleen (née Dzitko). Loving father of Chad Bergamaschi and his wife Patty and Cheryl Gabettie and her husband Todd. Cherished grandfather of Vincent and Lyla Gabettie. Dear brother of Marie Loesner. Beloved brother-in-law of Joan and Peter Svoboda, Paul Dzitko and Nancy Gilmartin, Anne Marie Marcussen, and Steven and Lisa Dzitko. Predeceased by his brother, Robert Marinelli, brothers-in-law, John Dzitko, Martin Loesner, Charles Marcussen, sister-in-law Trish Dzitko and nephew Mark Loesner. Ray is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and wonderful friends.

Ray was born in Jersey City, NJ to Vincenza (née Orefice) and Orazio Bergamaschi. He was a contractor with C & D Carpentry, retiring in 2012. Ray was an avid New York Yankees fan, and even tried out for the team. It brought him so much joy to be able to coach his son in baseball growing up and pass on his love for the game to his grandson. Ray’s love for his family and friends was endless, his laughter was contagious and his smile would brighten your day and light up a room.

A celebration of Raymond’s life will be held Thursday, January 25th, 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, January 26th, 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Dumont. Cremation is private.
