Richard W. Schmude, 77, a 45-year resident of Dumont, NJ, died on April 23, 2023 at Holy Name Medical Center, Teaneck. Loving husband of Maureen (née Murphy). Devoted father of Lisa Ninchritz and her husband André, Richard Schmude and his wife Marianne, Daniel Schmude and his wife Theresa, Michael Schmude and his wife Danna. Cherished grandfather of Abigail, Trevor, Nathaniel, Mikayla, Lucas, Aiden, Hannah, Miles and Aliyah. Dear brother of Francis Schmude and his wife Carol. Predeceased by his brother Robert Schmude and sister Mary Ann Ricca.
Richard was born in Brooklyn, NY to Elizabeth (née Almskog) and Francis Schmude. He was an insurance agent with Joseph Oakes Insurance Agency, Livingston, NJ for many years. Richard was active in the Dumont youth soccer and roller hockey programs.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Friday, April 28th, 4-8 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont. Funeral Mass Saturday, April 29th, 11 AM, St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Dumont. Cremation is private.
