Anthony Kallas, 92, of New Milford, passed away on March 31, 2023
He passed away quietly under medical care due to health complications associated with age.
Anthony (Tony) was born in 1930 in Queens, NY to Catherine and Peter Krokondelas. He grew up with his six siblings Cleo, Mary, George, Nick, Bessy and John.
He was married to Concetta (Tina) Kallas of Bronx, NY in 1956 and resided in West New York for a short period of time before moving to New Milford in 1963. Anthony was a Korean War Army veteran and subsequently worked for the Hackensack Water Company for over 30 years where he retired. A lover of baseball and avid NY Yankees fan, Tony was actively involved in coaching and supporting New Milford Little League Baseball programs and served as President of the New Milford Babe Ruth League. He enjoyed working on his home and took pride in his lawn and garden. Tony enjoyed travel and took the family on summer trips to the NJ Shore, Boston, Toronto and Virginia.
Anthony is survived by his wife Tina, daughter Doreen (Kallas) Sowinski and husband Joseph Sowinski, Glen Kallas and wife Barbara Kallas, grandchildren Joseph Sowinski, Michael Sowinski and wife Carrie Sowinski, Christopher Kallas and wife Amanda Kallas, Daniel Kallas and wife Anna Kallas, Alexa Kallas and great grandchildren Phoenix Sowinski, Savannah Sowinski and Joshua Sowinski.
A visitation and celebration of life will be held at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home in Dumont, NJ on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 10 AM-1 PM followed by the funeral at George Washington Cemetery, Paramus, NJ. His family will be present to welcome loved ones.
