Angelina (‘Angie’) Fusco, of Dumont, NJ, a beautiful and active woman, passed away on February 6, 2023, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 70 years, Peter; who was Angie’s best friend, soul mate and love of her life. Angie is also survived by daughters Linda and Rita, son-in-law Richard, and her five grandchildren, Erik, Ethan, Evan, Cheyna, and Ryan.
As a child, Angelina played in the streets of New York; she loved riding her bike and roller skating. In her high school yearbook she wrote that her ambition was to become a successful executive secretary, and she proudly achieved that goal, where she garnered skills she would employ the rest of her life. Those who knew Angie well knew that her notes, and even checks, were typed on her old Corona typewriter. Further, everything in her home was labeled, often color-coded, and perfectly organized. Following her career as an executive secretary, Angie became a full-time mom, a job she loved and one she dove into with all her heart. She deeply loved her daughters, and was involved in their school trips and activities, as well as becoming a Girl Scout leader. She cared for her family with a fierce dedication; cooking every night and making lunches every day. Later in life she was thrilled to become “Nana”, embracing that role with her entire being and celebrating all of her grandchildren’s interests, activities, and milestones. Prior to entering Kindergarten, Nana cared for Cheyna and Ryan, playing games with them and taking them on walks.
In addition to her family, Angie was an active parishioner for Sacred Heart Church, serving on several outreach committees and helping with community activities and events. Angie was a kind woman and devoted friend. She gave of herself willingly and prayed for the well-being of others. Angie loved her cats, and cared for all animals and birds in nature. As a wife, mother Nana, friend, cousin and neighbor, Angelina was much loved and will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate the life of Angelina J. Fusco on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Sacred Heart Church in Haworth, NJ at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to the VHL Alliance (vhl.org) or the Catskills Animal Sanctuary (casanctuary.org).
