Obituary

On July 31, 2022, Anna Sciorra (née Anniballe) died 17 days short of her 95th birthday.  Born in Brooklyn to immigrants Emilio and Carmina, she was the penultimate of five children.  Her mother died when she was seven years old, and in 1937 her father brought the family to his hometown of Maranola, a hamlet of Formia, in Lazio.  She returned to Brooklyn in 1950, where she met and married our father, Enrico Sciorra, in 1954.

Anna was the liaison for paesani immigrating after World War II, a seamstress, a consummate gardener, baker and cook, an adherent of Brooklyn neighborhood life.  She was a devoted wife, for 60 years, a dedicated mother and nonna, and a steadfast person in our lives.

Visitation Wednesday, August 3rd, 3-8 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., Dumont, NJ.  Funeral Mass Thursday, August 4th, 12 Noon, at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Dumont, NJ.  Anna will be  entombed with her husband at Pinelawn Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. https://alz.org/get-involved-now/other_ways_to_give/tributes
