Irene McCartan (née Turco), 64, of Dumont, NJ passed away unexpectedly on July 26, 2022.  Loving wife of Edward J. McCartan, Sr.  Devoted mother of Edward J. “E.J.” McCartan, Jr. Ashley Harris and her husband Raymond E., Jr., and Lauren Pimm.  Cherished grandmother of Iyla, Alyssa, Sophia, Dominic, Madison and Devon.  Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and her beloved mother-in-law and friend, Dolores McCartan.  Predeceased by her son, George Pimm and her sister, Debra Delesky.

Irene was born in New York City to Lottie (née Lee) and Michael Turco.  She loved playing Bingo, going on long motorcycle rides with her husband, and spending time with her family. Irene will be sadly missed by family and friends. She was passionate about helping anyone she could and touched the lives of many people.

A celebration of Irene’s life will take place this Sunday, July 31, 2022, 3-7 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont.  A Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home on Monday, August 1, 2022, 9:30 AM. She will be laid to rest at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; www.stjude.org.
