Gilda Tedesco, 96, of Dumont, entered into eternal life peacefully at home on Monday, November 11, 2019.  Predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Pasquale (2002) and loving sister Martha (2007). Dear sister of Cleto Caruso. Devoted mother of Pasquale, Rosemary and her husband Bob, Richard, and Lorraine. Cherished grandmother of Bob (Melissa), Adrienne, John (Ashley), and Lauren. She adored all her nieces and nephews.

Gilda was born and baptized in Manhattan and spent her grammar school years in Minturno, Italy. She worked as a seamstress during WWII, and moved her family from the Bronx to Dumont 54 years ago, intentionally close to St Mary’s church and school. Gilda was very dedicated to our Blessed Virgin and faithfully passed it on to her children. She devoted her life to raising her family and was a compassionate caretaker during her father’s and husband’s final years. She was an old-fashioned soup-to-nuts homemaker and walked about town to do errands, sometimes accepting a ride home from a kind neighbor. Gilda is fondly remembered for sprightly hosting family gatherings with a welcoming smile and always plenty of food.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Dumont. Entombment to follow at Garden of Memories, Washington Township. Visitation Wednesday 9-10:30 AM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont. Donations of sympathy in Gilda’s memory may be made to The Handicapped Elevator Fund of St. Mary’s Church, 280 Washington Ave, Dumont, NJ 07628.
